On my mind

Kay, so there's a couple of things on my mind today.

First of all, a wee lesson in the rules of rhetoric. If you are gonna argue, come armed with some facts. I don;t mean you need to know a political party's tax policy down to the letter, although you should know more than what the tv ads say, and more than just general brush strokes.

If you are gonna make bald statements along the lines of "The UN hasn't done anything good in the last 50 years", well, you better be able to back up your opinion. Cos for the record, simply stating your opinion over and over again isn't arguing. It's just statin your opinion over and over again.

There's a lot of political arguing going on at the moment. The least we can do is keep it informed and articulate.

Which brings me to my next point. Please please please please vote. People die for the right to do what we take for granted. it's once every 3 years, it takes 10 minutes, it's not far out of your way, and it's important.

Regardless of who you vote for, please get out there and do it. It's a fundamental way to interact with society. My parents always taught me that if you don't vote, you don;t get to complain.

And for those of you who think the government doesn't effect what you do, of course it does. It is the roads you drive on, the doctor you see, the trees on the side of the road, and the water that comes out of your tap. It's how much tax you pay, how easy it is to find a job, and how much your supermarket shopping costs.

The least you can do is try and get the one that you want.
